Welcome To Lane County

Dear Reader,

The 2012 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials are finally here, and the residents of Lane County are thrilled to host this spectacular event!  From June 20th to July 1st, the electrifying atmosphere of the University of Oregon’s legendary Hayward Field will come alive as America’s most elite track and field athletes compete for a spot on the U.S. team at the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London.

If you are here for the Olympic Track and Field Trials let me welcome you to Lane County.

With the excitement of the Olympic Trials, the abundant diversity and beauty of our community and the overall health of the local economy, real estate in Lane County should be a great investment for years to come. Whether you’re here to visit or here to stay, make sure to visit some of my favorite spots throughout our diverse region.

Hendricks Park – Tucked high on the hill overlooking Eugene and its sister city Springfield lays this breathtaking 77-acre park, featuring more than 6,000 rhododendrons which are in full bloom beginning in late April and early May.  For a relaxing picnic and a leisurely walk, Hendricks Park is the ideal spot.

Lane County Wine Country – Take a short trip outside the city limits into one of Lane County’s sixteen wineries nestled into scenic rolling landscapes.

Saturday Market – See the oldest weekly, open-air crafts festival in the U.S., which offers more than 200 craft booths, delicious food and live entertainment every Saturday, rain or shine, April – October.

Covered Bridges – Lane County is home to 20 covered bridges dating back as early as 1920; many are listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Fourteen are still open to traffic. Maps and guides, available at area visitor centers, make these treasured landmarks easy to find.

Heceta Head Light HouseCapture a picture of Heceta Head Lighthouse, America’s most photographed beacon. Built in 1894 she stands as one of the crown jewels of the Oregon Coast.

McKenzie River If you like roller coasters you’ll love the McKenzie River’s storied Martens Rapids.  Whether on raft or kayak these class 3’s are sure to leave you wet on the dog days of summer and begging for more. Prefer to stay dry? Check out the riverfront hiking and mountain biking trails. (While exploring the McKenzie Valley stop by our office located in Vida on the McKenzie Highway)
